I Called But You Refused - Proverbs 1:24

In the book of Proverbs Solomon shared how wisdom said, “Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you”, and in chapter one and verse twenty-four of Proverbs Solomon shared, “because I have called, and you refused” where we read,

Because I have called, and you refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

The verse begins, Because I have called, and you refused;. Solomon began with the words, “because I have called” or “since and on account that I, wisdom, called out, uttered a loud sound, summoned and invited”, “and you refused” which means “and you, Solomon's son, utterly rejected wisdom”. Solomon shared how “wisdom” summoned and invited his son to receive it, but Solomon's son rejected the invitation.

The verse goes on to say, “I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;” Solomon continued with the words, “I have stretched out my hand” or “I, wisdom, have extended, bent and thrust forth my, wisdom's, hand of power, might and authority”, “and no man regarded” which means “and not one person whether male or female was attentive, hearkened, paid attention or listened”. Solomon said wisdom extended it's power and authority to everyone, however, they refused to pay attention or listen to what wisdom said.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon not only invited his son to receive “wisdom”, but also every person who was listening to his words. God inspired Solomon's words, and He was responsible for giving Solomon the wisdom that he manifested. He wants us to be wise as well. God knew we were separated from a personal relationship with Him because of our sins, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for those sins so we can be intimate with Him. When we surrender ourselves to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide His wisdom through His Holy Spirit as we pay attention to what He has to say.

Next time Solomon says, “you have set at nought all my counsel”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
