On perch far away yet in plain site
the lone drew a bead to portend
a wicked in heart assassin of sort
the life of a royal to end
With careful resolve he set forth his course
and climbed to the precipice place
to set upon time release his armed will
to finished the destined one's fate
But try as he might great failure he found
for missed by a fraction of inch
but those who opposed put out his light
without ne'er a startle nor flinch
Then did one ask why such a man
would give of his life in this way
and risk such attempts as those with contempt
inherent nefarious sway
For no greater love has ever been found
than one who conveys of his life
for those known unknown the valuable sort
imperfect with great sacrifice
And then with reflect upon my own state
the sinful inherent within
the one on the cross with His life for mine
my sin, wrong and error toward Him
But then upon glance and much deeper still
the horror beheld to my eyes
twas me one at fault inherit with sin
that His life was traded for mine
Twas me who took aim with sinful despair
and set forth the damaging blow
the Christ crucified gave His life for mine
and suffered the death that I owed
And now head bent low and humbled in heart
I understood I was in guilt
the perfect was slain not missed by design
to rescue from sin within built
But low in the grave this Savior did rise
the sin of the world having paid
He rose from the tomb with three days in stride
now freedom from death He has made
And now as I bow and give Him my trust
with knowledge of what He has done
received His forgiveness and eternal life
the victory o'r sin He has won
