In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Wisdom cries without; she utters her voice in the streets”, and in chapter one and verse twenty-one of Proverbs Solomon said wisdom, “cries in the chief place of concourse” where we read,
She cries in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates:
in the city she utters her words, saying,
The verse begins, “She cries in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates:”. Solomon began with the words, “she cries” or “she, wisdom, utters a loud sound, proclaims, summons and invites” “in the chief place of concourse” which means “within the main, upper, head, top, best and choice location pertaining to the crowds and noisy streets”, “in the openings” or “within the entrances” “of the gates” which means “belonging to the entryways, ports and doors to the marketplaces”. Solomon shared how “wisdom” shouts aloud to the crowds of people who are within the streets and marketplaces of the city.
The verse continues, “in the city she utters her words, saying,” Solomon added the words, “in the city” or “within the place of waking or guarded town” “she utters her words” which means “she, wisdom, proclaims, declares and speaks her, wisdom's, sound and noise of uttered words”, “saying” or “uttering, declaring and proclaiming” the follow words from the next verse. Solomon shared how “wisdom” makes a proclamation throughout the dwelling places where people lay their heads.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how Solomon said “wisdom” is available not only in the crowds and places of business, but also within the dwelling places of people wherever they live. God wants to give us His “wisdom” because He loves us and knows what is best for our lives. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to know that His “wise” way of living is available to us whenever we ask Him for it. (See James 1:5)
Next time Solomon asks, “how long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
