The Heathen Shall Fear the Name of the LORD - Psalms 102:15

In Psalms one hundred and two the Psalmist said of Jehovah God, “You shall arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favor her, yes, the set time, is come. For your servants take pleasure in her stones, and favor the dust thereof”, and in chapter one hundred two and verse fifteen of Psalms the Psalmist said, “the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD” where we read,

So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth your glory.

The verse begins, So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “so the heathen” or “then, therefore, wherefore and these things being so the pagan, foreign and non-Hebrew nations” “shall fear” which means “will revere, be afraid, be in awe, honor and respect” “the name of the LORD” or “the reputation, fame and glory belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist said people who are foreign and pagan nations will revere and be in awe of Jehovah God's name, reputation and glory.

The verse continues,... and all the kings of the earth your glory. The Psalmist added the words, “and all the kings” or “and each, every, the whole and everyone of the royal rulers” “of the earth” which means “belonging to the land, country, territory, region and world” “your glory” or “your, Jehovah God's, honor, abundance, splendor and dignity”. The Psalmist said every ruler throughout the world would revere and be in awe of Jehovah God's splendor, honor and dignity.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist knew the result Jehovah God's servants and worshipers being favored by Him would cause the pagan and Gentile nations as well as the royal rulers to be in awe and respect of Him. God desires to be worshiped by everyone because it not only blesses Him, but also the people who humble themselves before Him. God loves us, and His desire is to spend eternity with us in Heaven. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to join with pagans and royal rulers in adoration and praise of Him. (See Psalms 22:27-31 and Romans 14:11)

Next time the Psalmist shares what happens, “when the LORD shall build up Zion”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
