The LORD Shall Endure Forever - Psalms 102:12

In Psalms one hundred and two the Psalmist said, “my days are like a shadow that declines; and I am withered like grass”, and in chapter one hundred two and verse twelve of Psalms the Psalmist said, “you, O LORD, shall endure for ever” where we read,

But you, O LORD, shall endure for ever; and your remembrance unto all generations.

The verse begins, But you, O LORD, shall endure for ever; The Psalmist began with the words, “but you, O LORD” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover you, God, O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “shall endure for ever” which means “will dwell, tarry, remain and abide for long duration, futurity, everlasting, evermore, perpetually and unto perpetuity”. The Psalmist knew Jehovah God would remain and abide eternally.

The verse goes on to say,and your remembrance unto all generations. The Psalmist continued with the words, “and your remembrance” or “and your, Jehovah God's, memorial, memory and commemoration” “unto all generations” which means “toward each, every, the whole and everyone of the periods, ages and posterity”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God's memory would continue to each and every one of the ages and posterity.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist contrasted the eternal nature of Jehovah God compared to his own situation. Though he felt his own life was temporary, he knew the memory of Jehovah God would last throughout every period and age. God is eternal, and He wants us to be with Him forever. Our sins, however, separate us from Him, and the penalty for our sins is death. (See Romans 6:23) He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and remind us over and over again that He is with us and He shall be forever and ever.

Next time the Psalmist says of Jehovah God, “you shall arise, and have mercy upon Zion”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
