In Psalms one hundred and forty one David said concerning the wicked, “When their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet”, and in chapter one hundred and forty one and verse seven of Psalms David said, “Our bones are scattered at the grave's mouth” where we read,
Our bones are scattered at the grave's mouth, as when one cuts and cleaves wood upon the earth.
The verse begins, “Our bones are scattered at the grave's mouth, ...” David began with the words, “our bones” or “our, David and his people's, physical essence, substance, limbs and members” “are scattered” which means “are spread out and dispersed” “at the grave's mouth” or “at the opening or underworld, sheol, hell and the pit”. David shared how his and his people's “bones” and members were spread out before the underworld and hell.
The verse continues, “as when one cuts and cleaves wood upon the earth.” David added the words, “as when one cuts” or “like and similar to the time and moment a person whether male or female causes to open, slices and pierces” “and cleaves wood” which means “and breaks open, divides and tears apart wooden objects” “upon the earth” or “in the country, territory, region, district and world”. David likened the “scattering of his and his people's bones” to the way people slice, open and divide wooden objects.
When we meditate upon David's words in this verse, we see how he considered the constant threat of his hating foes and adversaries spreading them toward death, and like those who cut wood, they were to be scattered everywhere. God knows the enemies who oppose us, and because they were against Him as well, Jesus came into the world to suffer and die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him, we will receive His forgiveness for our sins, be granted eternal life and experience the protection of Jehovah God when others “scatter” our “bones” before death.
Next time David says, “But my eyes are unto you, O GOD the Lord”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
