Worshiping God Toward His Holy Temple - Psalms 138:2

In Psalms one hundred and thirty eight David said to Jehovah God, “I will praise you with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise unto you”, and in chapter one hundred and thirty eight and verse two of Psalms David said, “I will worship toward your holy temple, and praise your name” where we read,

I will worship toward your holy temple, and praise your name for your lovingkindness and for your truth: for you have magnified your word above all your name.

The verse begins, “I will worship toward your holy temple, and praise your name for your lovingkindness and for your truth: David began with the words, “I will worship” or “I, David, shall bow down, prostrate myself, be in homage and make reverence” “toward your holy temple” which means “in the direction of your, Jehovah God's, sacred, separate and consecrated nave, sanctuary and public worship center”, “and praise your name” or “and give laud to, make confession and revere your, Jehovah God's, fame, reputation and glory” “for your lovingkindness” which means “on behalf of your, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “and for your truth” or “and on behalf of your, Jehovah God's, firmness, faithfulness, sureness, reliability and continuance”. David declared that he would bow himself down, revere and give honor to the fame, reputation and glory of Jehovah God because of His goodness, kindness and faithfulness.

The verse continues, “for you have magnified your word above all your name. David added the words, “for you have magnified your word” or “because, since and on account that you, Jehovah God, have made great, important and powerful your, Jehovah God's, speech, utterance and commandment” “above all your name” which means “over and beyond each, every, the whole and entirety of Jehovah God's fame, reputation and glory”. David shared how Jehovah God made His utterances and commands to be exalted and more important than every part of His reputation, fame and glory.

When we consider the words in this verse, we discover through David how important God's word is to God and the world. God values His word, and He wants us to value it as well. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and “magnify” His truthful declarations over and over to give us life and direction according to His divine will and purpose.

Next time David says, “In the day when I cried you answered me”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
