No Evil Thing in My Heart - Psalms 141:4

In Psalms one hundred and forty one David said, “Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips”, and in chapter one hundred and forty one and verse four of Psalms David said to Jehovah God, Incline not my heart to any evil thing” where we read,

Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men that work iniquity:

and let me not eat of their dainties.

The verse begins, Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men that work iniquity: David began with the words, “Incline not my heart” or “ in no way or manner stretch, spread out and bend my, David's, soul, mind, will, desires, conscience, living being and seat of emotions and affections” “to any evil thing” which means “toward a single bad, disagreeable, malignant, unpleasant, displeasing and wicked act or deed”, “to practice wicked works” or “to severely deal with, act and busy himself with guilty, unethical, wrong and morally evil acts and deeds” “with men that work iniquity” which means “alongside people whether male or female who commit, make and do troublesome, sorrowful, idolatrous, unjust, unrighteous and vain acts and deeds”. David appealed to Jehovah God not to allow his soul, mind and will to be directed toward wicked acts and deeds, and he did not want to busy himself with the evil acts committed by people who are troublesome and idolatrous.

The verse goes on to say, “and let me not eat of their dainties.” David continued with the words, “and let me not eat” or “and do not allow or permit me, David, to consume and devour” “of their dainties” which means “pertaining to their, the wicked people's, delicacies or costly banquets”. David wanted Jehovah God to keep him from the costly banquets and delicacies of wicked people as well.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David appealed to Jehovah God not to allow his soul to be involved in wicked acts and deeds, and he did not want to be busy with the idolatrous habits of evil people. David wanted to be kept from the delicacies that wicked people often enjoy. God was David's protector, and God wants to protect us too. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us from the wicked acts and deeds of the idolatrous people in the world.

Next time David says to Jehovah God, Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
