Redeemed From Our Enemies - Psalms 136:24

In Psalms one hundred thirty six the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “remembered us in our low estate: for his mercy endures for ever”, and in chapter one hundred and thirty six and verse twenty-four of Psalms the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God, “has redeemed us from our enemies” where we read,

And has redeemed us from our enemies: for his mercy endures for ever.

The verse begins, “And has redeemed us from our enemies: The Psalmist began with the words, “And was redeemed us” or “and broke off, tore in pieces, saved and delivered us, the Psalmist and his fellow countrymen” “from our enemies” which means “separate and apart from our, the Psalmist and his fellow country-men's, hating foes and adversaries”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God delivered the Psalmist and his people from those who were their hating foes and adversaries.

The verse goes on to say, “for his mercy endures for ever. The Psalmist continued with the words, “for his mercy” or “because, since and on account that his, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “endures for ever” which means “lasts and remains for long duration, unto futurity, everlasting, evermore, perpetually and unto perpetuity”. The Psalmist repeated how Jehovah God is pleasant, good, kind and faithful, and forever these characteristics shall remain.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist referred to the way Jehovah God delivered him and the nation of Israel from the people who hated them. God loves Israel, and those who oppose them are as the enemies of God. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Lord and Savior”, He will forgive our sins, grant us eternal life and deliver us from our greatest enemies, Satan and death, for all eternity.

Next time the Psalmist shares how Jehovah God, “gives food to all flesh”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
