God Overthrew Pharaoh - Psalms 136:15

In Psalms one hundred thirty six the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “divided the Red sea into parts: for his mercy endures for ever. And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: for his mercy endures for ever”, and in chapter one hundred and thirty six and verse fifteen of Psalms the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God, “overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red sea” where we read,

But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red sea: for his mercy endures for ever.

The verse begins, “But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red sea: The Psalmist began with the words, “but overthrew Pharaoh” or “however, moreover, nonetheless and notwithstanding shook off, tossed up and tumbled about Pharaoh whose name means great house and was the common title of the king of Egypt” “and his host” which means “and his, the Pharaoh's, strong, mighty and able army” “in the Red sea” or “within the large body of water known as the Red Sea”. The Psalmist remembered how Jehovah God destroyed “Pharaoh and his army” within the midst of the “Red Sea” when he allowed the waters of the Red Sea to return to their normal state. (See Exodus 14:27, 29; 15:4,6,10-11)

The verse continues, “for his mercy endures for ever. The Psalmist added the words, “for his mercy” or “because, since and on account that his, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “endures for ever” which means “lasts and remains for long duration, unto futurity, everlasting, evermore, perpetually and unto perpetuity”. The Psalmist stated again the idea that Jehovah God is pleasant, good, kind and faithful, and He shall remain that way eternally.

When we meditate upon the Psalmist's words in this verse, we discover how he remembered when God allowed the waters of the “Red Sea” to crash in upon “Pharaoh and his army” after the people of “Israel” had crossed. God brought vengeance upon the enemies of “Israel”, and He shall judge those who are adversaries against His people. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our “Lord and Savior”, we receive His forgiveness for our sins, we inherit everlasting life and we shall be saved and delivered by His goodness, kindness and faithfulness for all eternity.

Next time the Psalmist shares how Jehovah God, “led his people through the wilderness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
