In Psalms one hundred and thirty eight David said to Jehovah God, “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you will revive me: you shall stretch forth your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand shall save me”, and in chapter one hundred and thirty eight and verse eight of Psalms David said, “the LORD will perfect that which concerns me” where we read,
The LORD will perfect that which concerns me:
your mercy, O LORD, endures for ever: forsake not the works of your own hands.
The verse begins, “The LORD will perfect that which concerns me:” David began with the words, “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “will perfect” which means “shall complete, bring to an end and perform” “that which concerns me” or “the thing that interest and makes me, David, anxious”. David shared how Jehovah God would work out, complete and bring to an end the plans and interests that he had for his life.
The verse continues, “your mercy, O LORD, endures for ever: forsake not the works of your own hands.” David added the words, “your mercy” or “your, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness”, “O LORD” which means “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “endures for ever” or “remains and lasts for long duration, unto futurity, everlasting, perpetually and unto perpetuity”: “forsake not the works” which means “do not become relaxed, sunken down, disheartened and idle concerning the acts and deeds” “of your own hands” or “belonging to your, Jehovah God's, own personal hands of authority, power and might”. David shared how the goodness, kindness and faithfulness of Jehovah God continues eternally, and therefore David desired that He not be disheartened and idle with the acts and deeds made with His mighty and powerful hands.
When we consider the David's words in this verse, we see how he knew Jehovah God would complete and finish the things that made him anxious. He knew God's goodness, kindness and faithfulness would endure for all eternity, and David could appeal to Him not to abandon the mighty and powerful acts and deeds performed with His hands of authority. God wants us to know Him in an intimate way, and when we realize He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, we can believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”. When we surrender, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to know He will help us and never abandon the works of His powerful hands.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see David say, “O LORD, you have searched me, and known me”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
