Israel Passed Through the Red Sea - Psalms 136:14

In Psalms one hundred thirty six the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “smote Egypt in their firstborn: for his mercy endures for ever. And brought out Israel from among them: for his mercy endures for ever. With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm: for his mercy endures for ever. To him which divided the Red sea into parts: for his mercy endures for ever”, and in chapter one hundred and thirty six and verse fourteen of Psalms the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God, “made Israel to pass through the midst of it” where we read,

And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: for his mercy endures for ever:

The verse begins, “And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: The Psalmist began with the words, “and made Israel” or “and caused Israel whose name means God prevails and is the name of the descendants and the nation of the descendants of Jacob” “to pass through the midst of it” which means “to traverse, go thru and march over in the middle of it, the Red Sea”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God caused the people of Israel to travel through the middle and across the dry land of the “Red Sea”.

The verse goes on to say, “for his mercy endures for ever. The Psalmist continued with the words, “for his mercy” or “because, since and on account that his, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “endures for ever” which means “lasts and remains for long duration, unto futurity, everlasting, evermore, perpetually and unto perpetuity”. The Psalmist once again repeated the idea that Jehovah God is pleasant, good, kind and faithful, and these traits shall everlastingly endure.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist continued to share the way Jehovah God caused the people of “Israel” to traverse the dry ground of the “Red Sea” to escape the onslaught of the Egyptians. God was and is “Israel's” deliverer, and He desires to be the One who “saves” every person in the world. He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to escape our enemy in this world to live eternally with Him.

Next time the Psalmist shares how Jehovah God, “overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red sea”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
