In Psalms one hundred and thirty nine David said, “O LORD, you have searched me, and known me. You know my downsitting and my uprising, you understand my thought afar off. You compass my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways”, and in chapter one hundred and thirty nine and verse four of Psalms David said, “there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, you know it” where we read,
For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, you know it altogether.
The verse begins, “For there is not a word in my tongue, ...” David began with the words, “for there is not a word” or “because, since and on account that there does not exist a speech, discourse, saying or utterance” “in my tongue” which means “within my, David's, wedge in his mouth used for eating and speaking”. David referred to each and every “word” that his mouth would speak.
The verse continues, “... but, lo, O LORD, you know it altogether.” David added the words, “but, lo, O LORD” or “except that, look, behold and consider, O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “you know it altogether” which means “you, Jehovah God, perceive, see, discriminate, distinguish and recognize it, every word, in whole and totality”. David said Jehovah God was aware of every “word” that was spoken from his “tongue”.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David knew Jehovah God was intimately aware of every “word” he spoke. Jesus said, “every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment” (See Matthew 12:36), and “by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned.” (See Matthew 12:37) God knows what we say, and because we have some words that “condemn” us, we have sinned. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to use our voices to employ “words” of praise, honor and glory to Him.
Next time David says, “you have beset me behind and before”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
