In Psalms one hundred and forty David said, “As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them. Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again”, and in chapter one hundred and forty and verse eleven of Psalms David said, “let not an evil speaker be established in the earth” where we read,
Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.
The verse begins, “Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth:” David began with the words, “let not an evil speaker” or “do not allow or permit a babbling, forked tongued person who makes utterances, declarations and proclamations” “be established” which means “exist as fixed, set, put and be arranged” “in the earth” or “within the country, territory, district and world”. David appealed to Jehovah God not to allow a person who speaks wickedly to be fixed and put within the world.
The verse goes on to say, “evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.” David continued with the words, “evil shall hunt” or “bad, disagreeableness, malignancy, unpleasantness, misery and unhappiness will chase, take and eagerly wait” “the violent man” which means “the wrong, cruel, unjust and false person both male and female” “to overthrow him” or “to push, ruin and thrust away him, the violent person whether male or female”. David said unpleasantness and misery would chase down people who are cruel and unjust so that they may be thrust away and ruined.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David continued to desire that Jehovah God not to allow wicked speaking people to be fixed within the world, and he concluded that Jehovah God would insure that unpleasantness and misery would chase after and ruin them. David made supplications to Jehovah God when wicked people entered his life, and we have that same opportunity when we realize God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. We may believe and trust in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord” to be forgiven of our sins and granted everlasting life with God. Let us allow God to contend with the wicked as we are saved from His wrath because we have surrendered our lives to Him.
Next time David shares about, “the cause of the afflicted”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
