Keep Me From the Snares - Psalms 141:9

In Psalms one hundred and forty one David said, “Our bones are scattered at the grave's mouth, as when one cuts and cleaves wood upon the earth. But my eyes are unto you, O GOD the Lord: in you is my trust; leave not my soul destitute”, and in chapter one hundred and forty one and verse nine of Psalms David said, Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me” where we read,

Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity.

The verse begins, Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, ... David began with the words, “keep me” or “guard, observe, give heed to and watch over me, David” “from the snares” which means “separate and apart from the calamities, plots and traps” “which they have laid for me” or “that they, the wicked people, have used as lures, wicked devices and bait on behalf of me, David”. David appealed to the Divine judge Jehovah God to guard and watch over him because of the plots and traps which were set by the wicked ones.

The verse continues, “... and the gins of the workers of iniquity.” David added the words, “and the gins” or “and the lures, hooks, snares and bait” “of the workers” which means “belonging to the people who make, commit, ordain and practice acts and deeds” “of iniquity” or “pertaining to trouble, wickedness, idolatry and sorrow”. David shared how the wicked people who practiced troublesome and idolatrous deeds set lures and bait to trap him.

When we consider David's words in this verse, we see how he wanted Jehovah God to protect him from wicked people who set traps with bait in order to snare him and his people. These idolatrous people could not be trusted, and God was solicited by David to protect him. God loves people, and He wants to provide provision and protection to everyone who will submit to His Son Jesus who was sent into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and protect us from those who use baits and lures to destroy us and keep us from relating to God.

Next time David says, let the wicked fall into their own nets, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
