In Psalms one hundred thirty six the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “smote Egypt in their firstborn: for his mercy endures for ever”, and in chapter one hundred and thirty six and verse eleven of Psalms the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God “brought out Israel from among them” where we read,
And brought out Israel from among them: for his mercy endures for ever:
The verse begins, “And brought out Israel from among them:” The Psalmist began with the words, “and brought out Israel” or “and went forth, proceeded and departed from Israel whose name means parched place and is the name of the descendants and the nation of the descendants of Jacob” “from among them” which means “separate and apart from the, the people of Egypt”. (See Exodus 12:51, 13:3, 17). The Psalmist referred to when the people of “Israel” were led by Jehovah God out of the land of “Egypt”.
The verse continues, “for his mercy endures for ever.” The Psalmist added the words, “for his mercy” or “because, since and on account that his, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “endures for ever” which means “lasts and remains for long duration, unto futurity, everlasting, evermore, perpetually and unto perpetuity”. The Psalmist proclaimed again that Jehovah God is pleasant, good, kind and faithful, and these qualities shall last eternally.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist continued to relay God's power as He delivered the people of “Israel” from the bondage of “Egypt”. God is good, kind, merciful and faithful, and He keeps His promises to mankind. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of every person, and when we put our faith and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us the value of His enduring power and mercy forever and ever.
Next time the Psalmist shares how Jehovah God delivered Israel, “with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
