Searched and Known - Psalms 139:1

Psalms one hundred and thirty nine begins with the phrase, [[To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.]] which breaks down, “to the chief Musician” or “to the preeminent overseer, superintendent, or chief choir director”, “A Psalm” which means “a melody or poem set to notes” “of David” or belonging to David whose name means blessed and was the second king of Israel”, and in chapter one hundred and thirty nine and verse one of Psalms David said, “O LORD, you have searched me, and known mewhere we read,

O LORD, you have searched me, and known me.

The verse begins, “O LORD, you have searched me, ... David began with the words, “O LORD” or “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “you have searched me” which means “you, Jehovah God, have investigated, explored and examined me, David”. David shared how Jehovah God investigated and examined Him.

The verse goes on to say, “... and known me. David continued with the words, “and known” or “and perceived, discriminated, distinguished and acknowledged” “me” which refers to “David”. David shared how Jehovah God also discriminated and acknowledged him.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David knew that Jehovah God examined him, and He perceived and acknowledged him as well. God knows everyone, and nothing is hidden from Him. He examines us, not because He does not know us, He does, but we need to be aware of our sins that separate us from Him. This is the reason God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and continue to examine us to reveal what He already knows about us.

Next time David says, you know my downsitting and my uprising, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
