In Psalms one hundred and thirty nine David said, “O LORD, you have searched me, and known me. You know my downsitting and my uprising, you understand my thought afar off”, and in chapter one hundred and thirty nine and verse three of Psalms David said, “you compass my path and my lying down” where we read,
You compass my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.
The verse begins, “You compass my path and my lying down, ...” David began with the words, “you compass my path” or “you, Jehovah God, scatter, winnow, disperse and spread my, David's, road, travel and way of living” “and my lying down” which means “and my, David's, stretching out for repose”. David said Jehovah God spreads over his way of living and reclining in repose.
The verse goes on to say, “... and are acquainted with all my ways.” David continued with the words, “and are acquainted” or “and exist as familiar with, know intimately and show harmony” “with all my ways” which means “alongside and beside each, every, the whole and everyone of my, David's habits, courses of life and direction”. David said Jehovah God knew everyone of his habits and courses of life.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David knew Jehovah God surrounded his way of living even unto the times he stretched out in repose. He intimately was aware of David's habits, courses and direction of living. God loved David, and He loves us as well. He knew David, and He knows us. He knows we need a “Savior” because we have sinned, and sin separates people from him and leads to death. (See Romans 3:23; 6:23) God sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and surround us with the presence of His Holy Spirit in all our habits and “ways”.
Next time David says, “there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, you know it”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
