God's Word Settled Forever - Psalms 119:89

Psalms one hundred nineteen and verse eighty nine begins the next section of this chapter with the Hebrew letter “LAMED” where the Psalmist said, “for ever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven” where we read,

For ever, O LORD, your word is settled in heaven.

The verse begins, For ever, O LORD, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “for ever” or “for long duration, long time, always, perpetually and unto continuous existence”, “O LORD” which means “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist said the following has existed always and unto perpetuity.

The verse goes on to say,... your word is settled in heaven. The Psalmist continued with the words, “your word” or “your, Jehovah God's, speech, utterance, business, occupation, manner and acts” “is settled” which means “exists as standing upright, established, appointed and made firm” “in heaven” or “within the abode of God”. The Psalmist referred to the way the “utterance, manner and acts” of Jehovah God are established within His abode for all eternity.

When we consider the Psalmist's words in this verse, we learn how he referred to the perpetual standing of the “utterance and speech” of Jehovah God. God's word has always been, and it shall always be. We can count on His “word”, and because He loves us, He gave us His Only Begotten Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and reassure us of the appointed longevity and endurance of His “word” in this life and in the life to come.

Next time the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “your faithfulness is unto all generations”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Quicken Me After Your Lovingkindness - Psalms 119:88

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook not your precepts”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse eighty-eight of Psalms the Psalmist said, “quicken me after your lovingkindness” where we read,

Quicken me after your lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of your mouth.

The verse begins, Quicken me after your lovingkindness; The Psalmist began with the words, “quicken me” or “make alive, sustain and restore life unto me, the Psalmist” “after your lovingkindness” which means “in keeping with your, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness”. The Psalmist wanted Jehovah God to make and sustain his life in accordance with His goodness, kindness and faithfulness.

The verse continues,so shall I keep the testimony of your mouth. The Psalmist added the words, “so shall I keep” or “then will I, the Psalmist, guard, observe, watch over and give heed to” “the testimony” which means “the Divine witness” “of your mouth” or “belonging to your, Jehovah God's, orifice in the face used for eating, drinking and speaking”. The Psalmist referred to the way he would watch over and observe the Divine witness of Jehovah God's speech.

When we think through the words in this verse, we discover how the Psalmist wanted Jehovah God to make and sustain his life according to His goodness, kindness and faithfulness, and this caused him to observe the Divine witness of God. God wants this type of relationship with us. He gave us life and breath and sustenance for life. By sending His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He has made a way for every person who surrenders to Him to be saved, rescued, delivered and forgiven for their sins and inherit everlasting life with Him. God loves us, and He will make us alive according to His goodness, kindness and faithfulness as we “keep” His witness and law.

Next time we begin the next section of the one hundred and nineteenth chapter of Psalms with the Hebrew letter “LAMED” where the Psalmist says, “forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Almost Consumed - Psalms 119:87

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, All your commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help you me”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse eighty-seven of Psalms the Psalmist said, “they had almost consumed me” where we read,

They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook not your precepts.

The verse begins, They had almost consumed me upon earth; The Psalmist began with the words, “they had almost consumed me” or “they, the proud who dug a pit for the Psalmist, within a little time, shortly and very closely finished, destroyed and wasted me, the Psalmist” “upon earth” which means “on the land, territory, region, country and world”. The Psalmist said the people who were arrogant and proud who dug pits for him nearly destroyed and finished him while he lived in the world.

The verse goes on to say,but I forsook not your precepts . The Psalmist continued with the words, “but I forsook not” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover I, the Psalmist, did not leave, refuse or make destitute” “your precepts” which means “your, Jehovah God's, statutes, commandments and law”. The Psalmist shared how he did not leave or refuse the laws and commandments of Jehovah God.

When we meditate upon the Psalmist's words in this verse, we learn how he was nearly finished by the arrogant and proud people who dug a pit for him, however he did not make destitute the law and commandments of God as he endured their onslaughts. God wants us to rely upon His word, and because He loves us, He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to rely upon His commandments and law when people who are proud and arrogant rise up against us.

All God's Commandments are Faithful - Psalms 119:86

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, The proud have dug pits for me, which are not after your law”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse eighty-six of Psalms the Psalmist said, “all your commandments are faithful” where we read,

All your commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help you me.

The verse begins, All your commandments are faithful: The Psalmist began with the words, “all your commandments” or “each, every, the whole and everyone of your, Jehovah God's, ordinances, precepts and laws” “are faithful” which means “exist as firm, steady, truthful and secure”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God's ordinances and precepts exist as steady and true.

The verse continues, they persecute me wrongfully; help you me. The Psalmist added the words, “they persecute me” or “they, the people who are proud and dig pits for me, the Psalmist, pursue, chase and harass him” “wrongfully” which means “in deception, disappointment, in falsehood and fraud”; “help you me” or “Jehovah God give aid, assistance and support to me, the Psalmist”. The Psalmist called upon Jehovah God to give him aid as the arrogant and proud people who dug a pit for him pursued and harassed him in falsehood.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist knew Jehovah God was “faithful” to His word, and when the proud and arrogant people wrongfully rose up against him, He cried out to God for help. God wants to protect and provide for us, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we submit to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and come to our aid according to His faithful word when nefarious people rise up against us.

The Proud Have Dug Pits for Me - Psalms 119:85

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist asked, How many are the days of your servant? when will you execute judgment on them that persecute me?”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse eighty-five of Psalms the Psalmist said, “the proud have dug pits for me” where we read,

The proud have dug pits for me, which are not after your law.

The verse begins, The proud have dug pits for me, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “the proud” or “the arrogant and presumptuous” “have dug pits for me” which means “have excavated, plotted and bore open hallows, holes and caverns on behalf of me, the Psalmist”. The Psalmist said people who were arrogant and presumptuous bore open holes or caverns like traps for him.

The verse goes on to say,... which are not after your law. The Psalmist continued with the words, “which are not after” or “that exist in no way or manner toward” “your law” which means “your, Jehovah God's, direction, instruction and codes of laws”. The Psalmist said the people who were arrogant and presumptuous who “dug pits” for him in no way followed and kept the direction and codes of Jehovah God.

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist knew people who were arrogant and presumptuous desired to trap him. They did not observe the law of God, nor did they regard His codes for living. The Psalmist knew that he should come to God with His dilemma, and God wants everyone to come to Him when others rise up against them. God loves us, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins to prove it. When we believe and trust in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and attend to arrogant and proud people who “dig pits” into which they desire we fall.

How Many Days? - Psalms 119:84

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget your statutes”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse eighty-four of Psalms the Psalmist asked Jehovah God, “How many are the days of your servant?” where we read,

How many are the days of your servant? when will you execute judgment on them that persecute me?

The verse begins, How many are the days of your servant? The Psalmist began with the words, “how many are the days” or “what are the number and count of the sunrises to sunsets” “of your servant” which means “pertaining and belonging to your, Jehovah God's, bondman, man of servile condition and worshiper”? The Psalmist wondered what was the number of sunrises to sunsets were allotted to him as His bondman and worshiper.

The verse continues, when will you execute judgment on them that persecute me? The Psalmist added the words, “when will you execute judgment” or “at what time and moment shall you, Jehovah God, execute, accomplish, make and effect justice, ordinance, process, procedure and litigation” “on them” which means “upon the people” “that persecute me” or “who run after, pursue and follow after me, the Psalmist”? The Psalmist asked for the time that Jehovah God would effect justice and litigation upon the people who pursued and followed after him.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist wondered how many days he would live on the earth in anguish, and he wanted Jehovah God to bring about justice and righteousness without delay upon the people who followed after him. Rather than avenge himself, the Psalmist allowed Jehovah God to bring vengeance upon his foes. God loves us, and His desire is to protect and provide for us not only in this life, but also in the years to come. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and acts in opposition to those who “persecute” us.

Next time the Psalmist says, “the proud have dug pits for me”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Like a Bottle in the Smoke - Psalms 119:83

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, My eyes fail for your word, saying, When will you comfort me?, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse eighty-three of Psalms the Psalmist said, “I am become like a bottle in the smoke” where we read,

For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget your statutes.

The verse begins, For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; The Psalmist began with the words, “for I am become” or “because, since and on account that I, the Psalmist, have fallen out, happened and come about” “like a bottle” which means “similar and in likeness to a skin leather bag” “in the smoke” or “within the thick fume, cloud or vapor”. The Psalmist said he shriveled up and fell out to be similar to a leather bag or wineskin within a vapor zone.

The verse goes on to say,yet do I not forget your statutes. The Psalmist continued with the words, “yet do I not forget” or “still I, the Psalmist, in no way or manner ignore, cease to care for and not remember” “your statutes” which means “your, Jehovah God's, ordinances, limits, boundaries and prescribed tasks or portions”. The Psalmist said even though he was shriveled up like a wineskin, he continued to remember the ordinances and limits belonging to Jehovah God.

When we consider the Psalmist's words in this verse, we learn how he felt like a shriveled up wineskin within a vaporous and smokey place, but it did not deter him from remembering the ordinances and boundaries given by Jehovah God. God loves people, and His desire is to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and when we yield our lives to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us when we feel like a shriveled wineskin in “smoke” as we keep His ordinances and laws in our minds.

Next time the Psalmist asks, “How many are the days of your servant?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
