In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “They had almost consumed me upon earth; but I forsook not your precepts”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse eighty-eight of Psalms the Psalmist said, “quicken me after your lovingkindness” where we read,
Quicken me after your lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of your mouth.
The verse begins, “Quicken me after your lovingkindness;” The Psalmist began with the words, “quicken me” or “make alive, sustain and restore life unto me, the Psalmist” “after your lovingkindness” which means “in keeping with your, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness”. The Psalmist wanted Jehovah God to make and sustain his life in accordance with His goodness, kindness and faithfulness.
The verse continues, “so shall I keep the testimony of your mouth.” The Psalmist added the words, “so shall I keep” or “then will I, the Psalmist, guard, observe, watch over and give heed to” “the testimony” which means “the Divine witness” “of your mouth” or “belonging to your, Jehovah God's, orifice in the face used for eating, drinking and speaking”. The Psalmist referred to the way he would watch over and observe the Divine witness of Jehovah God's speech.
When we think through the words in this verse, we discover how the Psalmist wanted Jehovah God to make and sustain his life according to His goodness, kindness and faithfulness, and this caused him to observe the Divine witness of God. God wants this type of relationship with us. He gave us life and breath and sustenance for life. By sending His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He has made a way for every person who surrenders to Him to be saved, rescued, delivered and forgiven for their sins and inherit everlasting life with Him. God loves us, and He will make us alive according to His goodness, kindness and faithfulness as we “keep” His witness and law.
Next time we begin the next section of the one hundred and nineteenth chapter of Psalms with the Hebrew letter “LAMED” where the Psalmist says, “forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
