Let Your Tender Mercies Come Unto Me - Psalms 119:77

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “Let, I pray you, your merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to your word unto your servant”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse seventy-seven of Psalms the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “Let your tender mercies come unto me” where we read,

Let your tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for your law is my delight.

The verse begins, “Let your tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: The Psalmist began with the words, “Let your tender mercies” or “allow and permit your, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness to” “come unto me” which means “enter, be enumerated and carried toward me, the Psalmist”, “that I may live” or “so I, the Psalmist, may have life, remain alive, be sustained and quickened”. The Psalmist desired that Jehovah God allow His goodness and kindness to be enumerated toward him so that his life would be sustained.

The verse goes on to say, “for your law is my delight.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “for your law” or “because, since and on account that your, Jehovah God's, direction, instruction, manner, custom and codes of law” “is my delight” which means “exists as my, the Psalmist's, enjoyment and pleasure”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God's direction and instruction was his pleasure and enjoyment.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist wanted Jehovah God to allow His kindness and faithfulness to be given to him, and this would cause him to sustain life. The Psalmist took pleasure in Jehovah God's direction for life because he know God knows what is best for our lives. God's direction will bring us pleasure and enjoyment when we follow it, and because God loves us, He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to enjoy His direction and instruction for all our lives.

Next time the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “Let the proud be ashamed”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
