In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “They that fear you will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in your word”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse seventy-five the Psalmist said, “I know, O LORD, that your judgments are right” where we read,
I know, O LORD, that your judgments are right, and that you in faithfulness have afflicted me.
The verse begins, “I know, O LORD, that your judgments are right, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “I know, O LORD” or “I, the Psalmist, perceive, find out, discern, discriminate and distinguish, O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “that your judgments” which means “that your, Jehovah God's, justice, ordinance, place, court, seat of judgment, process and procedure” “are right” or “exist as just, righteous, victorious, delivering and prosperous”. The Psalmist told Jehovah God that he knew his His ordinances, processes and procedures were victorious and prosperous.
The verse goes on to say, “... and that you in faithfulness have afflicted me.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “and that you in faithfulness” or “and that you, Jehovah God, with firmness, fidelity, steadfastness and steadiness” “have afflicted me” which means “have occupied, humbled, bowed down and depressed me, the Psalmist”. The Psalmist perceived the correctness of Jehovah God's ordinances, and he was aware that God in His steadfastness and steadiness humbled him.
When we meditate upon the Psalmist's words in this verse, we learn how he acknowledged the correctness and rightness of the law of Jehovah God, and when he considered his own troubles, He knew God allowed them according to His steadfastness. God loves us, and He gave His righteous word to us so that we may trust in His fidelity whenever we suffer conditions that humble us. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and guide us into all truth by His Holy Spirit even when we suffer humbling difficulties. (See John 16:13)
Next time the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “Let … your merciful kindness be for my comfort”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
