The Earth is Full of God's Mercy - Psalms 119:64

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “I am a companion of all them that fear you, and of them that keep your precepts”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse sixty-four of Psalms the Psalmist said, “the earth, O LORD, is full of your mercy” where we read,

The earth, O LORD, is full of your mercy: teach me your statutes.

The verse begins, “The earth, O LORD, is full of your mercy: The Psalmist began with the words, “the earth” or “the land, country, territory, district, region and world”, “O LORD” which means “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “is full” or “exists as armed, satisfied, accomplished and complete” “of your mercy” which means “pertaining to your, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness”. The Psalmist said the world is satisfied and complete with Jehovah God's goodness, kindness and faithfulness.

The verse goes on to say, “teach me your statutes.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “teach me” or “instruct, direct, train and make me, the Psalmist, skillful within” “your statutes” which means “your, Jehovah God's, ordinances, limits, something prescribed, decrees and boundaries”. The Psalmist appealed to Jehovah God to instruct him in His ordinances and decrees.

When we think through the Psalmist's words in this verse, we learn how he knew Jehovah God's goodness, kindness and faithfulness filled the world, and he wanted to be instructed in His ordinances and laws. God loves us, and He has our best interest in mind. When we understand that He proved His love toward us by sending His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, we may believe and trust in Him and receive forgiveness of our sins, inherit everlasting life and appeal to Him to instruct us according to His laws and ways.

Next time we begin the next section of the one hundred and nineteenth Psalm with the Hebrew letter “TETH” where the Psalmist says, “you have dealt well with your servant”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
