In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in your judgments. So shall I keep your law continually for ever and ever. And I will walk at liberty: for I seek your precepts”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse forty six of Psalms the Psalmist said, “I will speak of your testimonies” where we read,
I will speak of your testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.
The verse begins, “I will speak of your testimonies also before kings, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “I will speak” or “I, the Psalmist, shall utter, declare and proclaim” “of your testimonies” which means “pertaining to your, Jehovah God's, divine witnesses and laws” “also before kings” or “even so and indeed in what is conspicuous, in view and in front of the royal rulers and nobles”. The Psalmist said he would make declarations concerning Jehovah God's divine witness in front of nobles and royal rulers.
The verse goes on to say, “... and will not be ashamed.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “and will not be” or “ and shall in no way or manner exist as” “ashamed” which means “disconcerted, disappointed and delayed”. The Psalmist said he would not suffer shame or be disconcerted as he declared the witness of Jehovah God in front of royal rulers and nobles.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist shared how he would make declarations concerning the “witness” of Jehovah God in front of leaders and nobles, and this would cause him not to experience shame. God has given us commandments and laws because he loves us, and He proved His love toward us when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us through His Holy Spirit to “speak” of His “testimonies” to all people including “kings” and people all over the world.
Next time the Psalmist says, “I will delight myself in your commandments”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
