Keeping God's Law Continually - Psalms 119:44

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “let your mercies come also unto me, O LORD, even your salvation, according to your word. So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproaches me: for I trust in your word. And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in your judgments”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse forty four of Psalms the Psalmist added, “so shall I keep your law continually” where we read,

So shall I keep your law continually for ever and ever.

The verse begins, “So shall I keep your law continually ... The Psalmist began with the words, “so shall I keep” or “thus, then, therefore, wherefore and on this account will I, the Psalmist, guard, observe, give heed to and have charge of” “your law continually” which means “your, Jehovah God's, direction, instruction and codes of law perpetually, continuously and evermore”. The Psalmist determined to continually observe and give heed to Jehovah God's instructions and codes of law.

The verse goes on to say, “... for ever and ever.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “for ever” or “unto long duration, futurity, everlasting, evermore, perpetually and always” “and ever” which means “and unto continuous existence”. The Psalmist purposed to observe Jehovah God's “law” forevermore and continuously.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist determined to perpetually observe the commandments and instructions of Jehovah God. God's way is best, and when He directs us according to His rule for living, He has our most blessed life in mind. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us His Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth and empower us to live according to His perfect ways. (See John 16:13 and Acts 1:8)

Next time the Psalmist says, “I will walk at liberty”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
