Teach Me the Way of Your Statutes - Psalms 119:33

Psalms one hundred nineteen and verse thirty three begins with the Hebrew letter “HE” where the Psalmist said, “Teach me, O LORD, the way of your statutes;” where we read,

Teach me, O LORD, the way of your statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end

The verse begins, Teach me, O LORD, the way of your statutes; The Psalmist began with the words, “teach me” or “instruct, direct and inform me, the Psalmist”, “O LORD” which means “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “the way of your statutes” or “the road, distance, journey, manner and direction pertaining to Jehovah God's ordinances, limits, prescribed tasks, boundaries and decrees”. The Psalmist appealed to Jehovah God to instruct Him in His direction and according to His ordinances and decrees.

The verse goes on to say, “and I shall keep it unto the end” The Psalmist continued with the words, “and I shall keep it” or “and I, the Psalmist, will guard, watch over, preserve and protect it, the way of Jehovah God's statutes” “unto the end” which means “until the consequence, gain, reward and result have been completed and finished”. The Psalmist declared that he would watch over and preserve Jehovah God's “way of His statutes” until the consequence, reward and completion of his life.

When we consider the Psalmist's words in this verse, we see how he desired to be instructed by Jehovah God according to His laws and ordinances, and he purposed to watch over and preserve them until the “end” of his life. God wants the same for us. He gave us His law to guide and protect us, and when we violated His law and sinned, He gave His Only Begotten Son Jesus to be crucified to pay the penalty of death for our sins. (See Romans 6:23) When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Lord and Savior”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life, instruct us in His ordinances and laws and help us to “keep” them for all the days of our lives.

Next time the Psalmist says, “give me understanding, and I shall keep your law”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
