Making Haste without Delay - Psalms 119:60

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto your testimonies”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse sixty of Psalms the Psalmist said, “I made haste, and delayed not” where we read,

I made haste, and delayed not to keep your commandments.

The verse begins, “I made haste, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “I made” or “I, the Psalmist, fashioned, produced and acted in” “haste” which means “eagerness and quickness with excitement or enjoyment”. The Psalmist said he eagerly and quickly did the following.

The verse goes on to say, “... and delayed not to keep your commandments.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “and delayed not” or “and did not linger, tarry or wait” “to keep your commandments” which means “to guard, observe and give heed to your, Jehovah God's, ordinances, precepts and law”. The Psalmist said he did not linger or wait to observe the law of Jehovah God.

When we meditate upon the Psalmist's words in this verse, we learn how he did not linger when it came to observing the law of God. God's law is worthy of our attention, and we should always be eager to give heed to what He has said. God loves us, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and encourage us to always observe and “keep his commandments”.

Next time the Psalmist says, “the bands of the wicked have robbed me”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
