God's Testimonies - Psalms 119:24

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “Princes also did sit and speak against me: but your servant did meditate in your statutes”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse twenty-four of Psalms the Psalmist shared about Jehovah God's, “testimonies” where we read,

Your testimonies also are my delight and my counselors.

The verse begins, Your testimonies also are my delight ... The Psalmist began with the words, “your testimonies” or “your, Jehovah God's, witnesses and laws” “also are my delight” which means “even so and indeed exist as my, the Psalmist's, enjoyment and pleasure”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God's laws and witness exist as his positive stimulus and enjoyment.

The verse goes on to say, “... and my counselors.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “and my” or “and my, the Psalmist's” “counselors” which means “advice, purpose and prudence”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God's laws and witness existed as his advice and purpose givers as well.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist considered Jehovah God's laws and witness to be pleasurable and as advice to him. God reveals Himself through His word, and when He gave His Only Begotten Son Jesus to be crucified for the sins of all mankind, He demonstrated His love toward us. (See Romans 5:8) When we receive Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us a passion and desire for His “testimonies” that will give us advice and pleasure as we live in this world.

Next time we begin section of the fourth Hebrew letter of the one Hundred and nineteenth Psalm, “DALETH”, where the Psalmist says, “my soul cleaves unto the dust”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
