Blessed is He that Comes in the Name of the LORD - Psalms 118:26

In Psalms one hundred eighteen the Psalmist said, “Save now, I beseech you, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech you, send now prosperity”, and in chapter one hundred eighteen and verse twenty-six of Psalms the Psalmist said, “Blessed is he that comes in the name of the LORD” where we read,

Blessed is he that comes in the name of the LORD:

we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.

The verse begins with the words, Blessed is he that comes in the name of the LORD: The Psalmist began with the words, “blessed is he” or “O how happy exists the person” “that comes” which means “who enter, come to pass and lead” “in the name” or “within the fame, reputation and glory” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist said the person who enters and is brought in with Jehovah God's reputation and fame exist as O how happy.

The verse continues, “we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.” The Psalmist added the words, “we have blessed you” or “we, the Psalmist and his people, have adored, praised and saluted you, Jehovah God” “out of the house” which means “from the dwelling place, shelter, habitation and abode” “of the LORD” or “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist referred to how he and his people praised and adored Jehovah God from His dwelling place and abode.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist declared the person who enters in with Jehovah God's name is “O how happy”. This verse leads us to the apostles' accounts of Jesus entering the city of Jerusalem where they wrote of Jesus, “And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.” (See Matthew 21:9, 23:39; Mark 11:9-10; Luke 19:38; John 12:13) Jesus came into Jerusalem on the day of the “Triumphal Entry” where people recognized Him as the Messiah who was sent by His Father God. Jesus came into the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to be among the people who recognize Jesus as the “Blessed One of the LORD” who shall praise and adore Him for all eternity.

Next time the Psalmist says, “God is the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
