In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “Your statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse fifty-five of Psalms the Psalmist said, “I have remembered your name, O LORD” where we read,
I have remembered your name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept your law.
The verse begins, “I have remembered your name, O LORD, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “I have remembered” or “I, the Psalmist, have called to mind, been reminded of and brought to remembrance and memory” “your name” which means “your, Jehovah God's, fame, reputation and glory”, “O LORD” or “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist referred to the way he recalled the fame, reputation and glory of Jehovah God.
The verse continues, “... in the night, and have kept your law.” The Psalmist added the words, “in the night” or “within the nighttime”, “and have kept your law” which means “and have guarded, observed, watched over and given heed to your, Jehovah God's, direction, instruction and codes of law”. The Psalmist said he recalled the “name” of Jehovah God within the nighttime, and he observed His direction and instruction.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist recalled the fame, reputation and glory of Jehovah God during the nighttime, and he watched over and gave heed to God's directions and instructions for life. God wants us to know His “word”, and when we realize He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for our sin and error from keeping His word, we should believe and trust in Him for our salvation. “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of god is eternal life” (See Romans 6:23), and Jesus paid that price of death on our behalf. When we surrender to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to remember and keep His commandments all thru the nighttime hours.
Next time the Psalmist says, “this I had, because I kept your precepts”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
