In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “the bands of the wicked have robbed me: but I have not forgotten your law”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse sixty-two of Psalms the Psalmist said, “at midnight I will rise to give thanks unto you” where we read,
At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto you because of your righteous judgments.
The verse begins, “At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto you ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “at midnight” or “at the middle time of the night” “I will rise” which means “I, the Psalmist, shall stand up, arise, become powerful and come on the scene” “to give thanks unto you” or “to grant, bestow and confess laud, praise and thanksgiving toward you, Jehovah God”. The Psalmist shared how he would arise to bestow thanksgiving upon Jehovah God in the middle of the night.
The verse goes on to say, “... because of your righteous judgments.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “because of your” or “since and on account of your, Jehovah God's” “righteous judgments” which means “just, right, victorious and prosperous ordinances, acts of deciding a case, process, procedure and litigation”. The Psalmist said the reason he would be able to arise in the middle of the night to give thanksgiving to God was on account of Jehovah God's just, right and victorious procedures and litigation.
When we consider the Psalmist's words in this verse, we learn how he rose in the middle of the night to offer thanksgiving to God, and he was able to do so because he observed the instructions and commandments of God. God loves us, and He wants to provide for and protect us. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and encourage us to arise in the nighttime to offer praise and glory to Him.
Next time the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “I am a companion of all them that fear you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
