In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said, “The proud have dug pits for me, which are not after your law”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse eighty-six of Psalms the Psalmist said, “all your commandments are faithful” where we read,
All your commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help you me.
The verse begins, “All your commandments are faithful:” The Psalmist began with the words, “all your commandments” or “each, every, the whole and everyone of your, Jehovah God's, ordinances, precepts and laws” “are faithful” which means “exist as firm, steady, truthful and secure”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God's ordinances and precepts exist as steady and true.
The verse continues, “ they persecute me wrongfully; help you me.” The Psalmist added the words, “they persecute me” or “they, the people who are proud and dig pits for me, the Psalmist, pursue, chase and harass him” “wrongfully” which means “in deception, disappointment, in falsehood and fraud”; “help you me” or “Jehovah God give aid, assistance and support to me, the Psalmist”. The Psalmist called upon Jehovah God to give him aid as the arrogant and proud people who dug a pit for him pursued and harassed him in falsehood.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist knew Jehovah God was “faithful” to His word, and when the proud and arrogant people wrongfully rose up against him, He cried out to God for help. God wants to protect and provide for us, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we submit to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and come to our aid according to His faithful word when nefarious people rise up against us.
Next time the Psalmist said, “they had almost consumed me”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
