Meditating in God's Precepts - Psalms 119:15

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist's said, “Blessed are you, O LORD: teach me your statutes. With my lips have I declared all the judgments of your mouth. I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies, as much as in all riches”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse fifteen of Psalms the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “I will meditate in your precepts where we read,

I will meditate in your precepts, and have respect unto your ways.

The verse begins, I will meditate in your precepts, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “I will meditate” or “I, the Psalmist, shall put forth, muse, commune, speak, ponder and make consideration” “in your precepts” which means “within your, Jehovah God's, statutes, mandates and commandments”. The Psalmist shared how he would muse and ponder over the commandments of Jehovah God.

The verse continues, “... and have respect unto your ways.” The Psalmist added the words, “and have respect” or “and have regard, pay attention to and make consideration” “unto your ways” which means “toward your, Jehovah God's, paths, traveling and well-trodden road”. The Psalmist declared that he would pay attention to and regard the paths and travels of Jehovah God.

When we meditate upon the Psalmist's words in this verse, we see how he purposed to ponder Jehovah God's commandments, and he would regard the manner of living of God. God's ways are best, and He provided them to us because He loves us. He proved His love toward us when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us the value of “meditating” in God's word and paying attention to His “ways”.

Next time the Psalmist says, “I will delight myself in your statutes”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
