Not Ashamed - Psalms 119:6

In Psalms one hundred nineteen the Psalmist said to Jehovah God, “You have commanded us to keep your precepts diligently. O that my ways were directed to keep your statutes”, and in chapter one hundred nineteen and verse six of Psalms the Psalmist said, “then shall I not be ashamed where we read,

Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all your commandments.

The verse begins, Then shall I not be ashamed, ... The Psalmist began with the word, “then” or “ at that time and moment, wherefore, therefore and on this account” “shall I not be ashamed” which means “will I, the Psalmist, in no manner or way exist as disconcerted, disappointed and put to shame”. The Psalmist shared that he in no way would be disconcerted or put to shame when he did the following.

The verse goes on to say, “... when I have respect unto all your commandments.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “when I have respect” or “at the time and moment I, the Psalmist, show regard, pay attention and give consideration” “unto all your commandments” which means “toward each, every, the whole and everyone of your, Jehovah God's, laws, ordinances and precepts”. The Psalmist said when he paid attention to every one of Jehovah God's laws and ordinances, he would not be “ashamed”.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist knew if he kept Jehovah God's laws and precepts and regarded every one of God's commands, he would not have “shame” in his life. God's laws are intended to protect us, and when he gives us limits and rules, it's because He knows what will bring trouble and harm to us. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us the ability to “keep” and “respect” all of His commandments in a manner that is pleasing to Him.

Next time the Psalmist says, “I will praise you with uprightness of heart”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
