God's Word Settled Forever - Psalms 119:89

Psalms one hundred nineteen and verse eighty nine begins the next section of this chapter with the Hebrew letter “LAMED” where the Psalmist said, “for ever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven” where we read,

For ever, O LORD, your word is settled in heaven.

The verse begins, For ever, O LORD, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “for ever” or “for long duration, long time, always, perpetually and unto continuous existence”, “O LORD” which means “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist said the following has existed always and unto perpetuity.

The verse goes on to say,... your word is settled in heaven. The Psalmist continued with the words, “your word” or “your, Jehovah God's, speech, utterance, business, occupation, manner and acts” “is settled” which means “exists as standing upright, established, appointed and made firm” “in heaven” or “within the abode of God”. The Psalmist referred to the way the “utterance, manner and acts” of Jehovah God are established within His abode for all eternity.

When we consider the Psalmist's words in this verse, we learn how he referred to the perpetual standing of the “utterance and speech” of Jehovah God. God's word has always been, and it shall always be. We can count on His “word”, and because He loves us, He gave us His Only Begotten Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and reassure us of the appointed longevity and endurance of His “word” in this life and in the life to come.

Next time the Psalmist says to Jehovah God, “your faithfulness is unto all generations”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
