In Psalms one hundred eighteen the Psalmist said, “Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD”, and in chapter one hundred eighteen and verse twenty of Psalms the Psalmist shared about, “this gate of the LORD” where we read,
This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter.
The verse begins with the words, “This gate of the LORD, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “this gate” or “the particular door or entryway of righteousness” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist again referred to the “gates of righteousness” which belong to Jehovah God.
The verse goes on to say, “... into which the righteous shall enter.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “into which the righteous” or “through which the just, correct, lawful and right people” “shall enter” which means “will go, cross and move into or be brought forth”. The Psalmist said people who are right, just and lawful will cross into Jehovah God's “gate of righteousness”.
When we think through the Psalmist's words in this verse, we learn how God is a righteous and just God in addition to being merciful, loving and kind. His ways are the best for mankind, and because He desires to have all people living according to those ways, He “gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (See John 3:16). God's open invitation to receive His forgiveness and eternal life is for anyone who will put their faith and trust in His Son Jesus. The “gate of the LORD” is opened, and we are wise to enter in and receive His Son Jesus as our “Lord and Savior” of “righteousness”.
Next time the Psalmist says, “I will praise you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
