In Psalms one hundred fifteen the Psalmist said, “Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto your name give glory, for your mercy, and for your truth's sake”, and in chapter one hundred fifteen and verse two of Psalms the Psalmist asked, “Where is now their God?” where we read,
Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?
The verse begins, “Wherefore should the heathen say, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “wherefore should” which means “for what reason and cause is there that” “the heathen say” or “the non-Hebrew, Gentile and foreign nations utter, declare and proclaim” the following words. The Psalmist asked what reason there was for the non-Hebrew and Gentile nations to ask the following question.
The verse continues, “... Where is now their God?” The Psalmist added the words, “where is now” or “in what place and location exists at this time and moment” “their God” which means “the Psalmist and his people's, Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”? The Psalmist referred to how the “heathen” people question in what place his and the people of Israel's “God” is located.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist questioned why the foreign and pagan people should ask where their God was located. God is merciful, kind, faithful and truthful, and His desire is to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to know Him even when others do not know that He is always with us.
Next time the Psalmist says, “our God is in the heavens”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
