Our God is in the Heavens - Psalms 115:3

In Psalms one hundred fifteen the Psalmist asked, Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?”, and in chapter one hundred fifteen and verse three of Psalms the Psalmist said, “our God is in the heavens” where we read,

But our God is in the heavens: he has done whatsoever he has pleased.

The verse begins, But our God is in the heavens: The Psalmist began with the words, “but our God” which means “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover our, the Psalmist and his people's, Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “is in the heavens” or “exists within the visible sky, atmosphere and abode of Jehovah God”. The Psalmist declared that the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God, Jehovah God, existed within the visible sky, atmosphere and celestial abode.

The verse goes on to say, “he has done whatsoever he has pleased.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “he has done” or “he, Jehovah God, has performed, produced and made ready” “whatsoever he has pleased” which means “that which he, Jehovah God, has taken delight, pleasure and favor”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God has performed that in which He has taken delight, pleasure and favor.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist declared his and his people's “Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God, Jehovah God” exists within the visible sky, atmosphere and His celestial abode. God does whatever He desires, and that which He delights within, He does. God loves people, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to know Him for the wonderful God that He is.

Next time the Psalmist says, “their idols are silver and gold”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
