In Psalms one hundred thirty two the Psalmist said, “We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his footstool”, and in chapter one hundred thirty two and verse eight of Psalms the Psalmist said, “Arise, O LORD, into your rest” where we read,
Arise, O LORD, into your rest; you, and the ark of your strength.
The verse begins, “Arise, O LORD, into your rest;” The Psalmist began with the words, “Arise, O LORD” or “stand up, come on the scene, be established and confirmed O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “into your rest” which means “into your, Jehovah God's, quietness, repose and peaceful ease”. The Psalmist called upon Jehovah God to stand up and be established into His quietness and repose.
The verse continues, “you, and the ark of your strength.” The Psalmist added the words, “you, and the ark” or “you, Jehovah God, and the Ark of the Covenant” “of your strength” which means “belonging to your might, material, personal or social or political and boldness”. The Psalmist desired that Jehovah God and His mighty “Ark” be established in repose.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist called upon Jehovah God along with His “Ark of the Covenant” to stand up and be established in His quietness and peaceful ease. We learned how David discovered where the “Ark of the Covenant” was located, and because it was a symbol of the presence of God, David wanted God and the “Ark” to be put back into a quiet state. God desires to bring calmness and tranquility to us through a personal relationship with Him. This is accomplished through Jesus who came into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and not only establish Himself in the tabernacle of our hearts, but also give us His tranquil presence that is able to comfort us regardless of what we encounter.
Next time the Psalmist says, “Let your priests be clothed with righteousness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
