As the Dew of Hermon - Psalms 133:3

In Psalms one hundred thirty three David said, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments”, and in chapter one hundred thirty three and verse three of Psalms David said unity is, “as the dew of Hermon” where we read,

As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion:

for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

The verse begins, As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: David began with the words, “as the dew of Hermon” or “similar and in likeness to the night mist belonging to Hermon whose name means a sanctuary and was a mountain on the northeastern border of Palestine and Lebanon and overlooking the border city of Dan” ,“and as the dew that descended” which means “and similar and in likeness to the night mist that descended, sunk down and was brought down” “upon the mountains of Zion” or “on the risings above the plains belonging to Zion whose name means parched place and was another name for Jerusalem especially in the prophetic books”. David said the “unity” of the people was like the night falling mist upon Mount Hermon and Zion.

The verse goes on to say, “for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore. David continued with the words, “for there the LORD” or “because, since and on account that in that place and location Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “commanded the blessing” which means “lay charge, ordered and appointed prosperity, praise and benediction”, “even life” or “indeed active, sustaining and maintaining living” “for evermore” which means “unto long duration, futurity, everlasting, evermore, perpetually and unto continual existence”. David shared how Jehovah God ordered that prosperity and praise would exist in Jerusalem where life would last perpetually.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David knew God's “blessing” was upon the city of Jerusalem, and because “unity” of the people there was important, He spoke of the flowing “dew” of “Herman and Zion” as an example of how God desires “unity” to be among His people. God wants us to be united with Him, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins so we could have a personal intimate relationship with Him. When we believe and trust in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to be a part of His “blessing” of eternal life forever and ever.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see the Psalmist say, “bless you the LORD, all you servants of the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
