Psalms one hundred thirty four begins with the phrase, [[A Song of degrees.]] which breaks down “A Song” or “a musical or lyrical ode” “of degrees” which means “pertaining to steps, stairs and ascents”, and in verse one the Psalmist said, “Behold, bless you the LORD” where we read,
Behold, bless you the LORD, all you servants of the LORD,
which by night stand in the house of the LORD.
The verse begins, “Behold, bless you the LORD, all you servants of the LORD, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “Behold, bless you the LORD” or “lo, look and consider, salute, praise and congratulate you, the people reading and listening to the Psalmist's words, Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” ,“all you servants” which means “each, every, the whole and everyone of you, people of servile condition, bondmen, slaves and worshipers” “of the LORD” or “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist called upon each and every one of the bondmen and worshipers of Jehovah God to give him praise, honor and adoration.
The verse continues, “which by night stand in the house of the LORD.” The Psalmist added the words, “which by night stand” or “ who remain, endure, tarry, persist and abide during the late evening or nighttime” “in the house” which means “within the dwelling place, abode, habitation and home” “of the LORD” or “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist addressed the people who remain and abide within the dwelling place of Jehovah God.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist called upon the bondmen and worshipers of Jehovah God to give praise and honor to Him while they remained within His dwelling place. God wants all people to “bless” Him, and when they do, they are the beneficiaries. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to give Him honor and praise in His dwelling place regardless of where we are located in the world.
Next time the Psalmist says, “Lift up your hands in the sanctuary”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
