Enemies Clothed with Shame - Psalms 132:18

In Psalms one hundred thirty two the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God said of Zion, “I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread. I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy. There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for my anointed”, and in chapter one hundred thirty two and verse eighteen of Psalms the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God said, “his enemies will I clothe with shame” where we read,

His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.

The verse begins, “His enemies will I clothe with shame: The Psalmist began with the words, “His enemies” or “his, David's, hating foes and adversaries” “will I clothe” which means “shall I, Jehovah God, array and dress” “with shame” or “by the use of confusion and disgrace”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God would array David's hating foes and adversaries with confusion and disarray.

The verse continues, “but upon himself shall his crown flourish. The Psalmist added the words, “but upon himself” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover on his own self” “shall his crown flourish” which means “will his, David's, consecration, separation and diadem blossom, sparkle and shine”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God said He would make the consecration and diadem of David to sparkle and shine.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist referred to the way Jehovah God would array David's foes with confusion and disgrace, however He would cause David's diadem to blossom and shine. God provides love, support and sustenance to His believers, and He proved His love by sending His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross and be raised from the dead three days later for the sins of all mankind. He gives us an invitation to have a personal relationship with Him by believing and trusting in Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and makes us to “flourish” according to His eternal purpose and plan for our lives.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see David say, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
