My Soul Waits for the LORD - Psalms 130:6

In Psalms one hundred thirty the Psalmist said, “I wait for the LORD, my soul does wait, and in his word do I hope”, and in chapter one hundred thirty and verse six of Psalms the Psalmist said, “My soul waits for the Lord” where we read,

My soul waits for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning:

I say, more than they that watch for the morning.

The verse begins, “My soul waits for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: The Psalmist began with the words, “My soul” or “my, the Psalmist's, heart, mind, will, desires, living being, conscience and seat of emotions and passions” “waits for the LORD” which means “looks for, hopes and lingers expectantly” “more than they that watch” or “to a greater and more abundant degree than the people who keep, guard, observe and give heed and protection” “for the morning” which means “on behalf of the dawning of the day, sunrise and the coming of daylight”. The Psalmist said his heart, mind and will were in expectancy for Jehovah God to a greater degree than the people who guard and take heed to the sunrise or dawn of the day.

The verse goes on to say,I say, more than they that watch for the morning. The Psalmist continued with the words, “I say” or “I, the Psalmist, utter, declare and proclaim”, “more than they that watch” which means “to a greater and more abundant degree than the people who keep, guard, observe and give heed and protection” “for the morning” or “on behalf of the dawning of the day, sunrise and the coming of daylight”. The Psalmist repeated the idea that he was in expectancy for Jehovah God to a greater degree than the people who guard over and take heed to the sunrise or dawn of the day.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist was constantly in expectation for Jehovah God not only to speak in his life, but also to work on his behalf. He had such an abundant hope in God that he compared it to watchmen who guarded the city to observe the break of day. God wants to have this type of intimate personal relationship with every person, and when we yield our lives to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins to be our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to have expectancy and hope in Him according to His perfect timing, purpose and plan.

Next time the Psalmist says, “Let Israel hope in the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
