Priests Clothed with Salvation - Psalms 132:16

In Psalms one hundred thirty two the Psalmist said, “the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his habitation. This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it. I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread”, and in chapter one hundred thirty two and verse sixteen of Psalms the Psalmist said, “I will also clothe her priests with salvation” where we read,

I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

The verse begins, “I will also clothe her priests with salvation: The Psalmist began with the words, “I will also clothe her priests” or “I, Jehovah God, shall even so and indeed dress, array and put clothing upon her, Jerusalem's, chief rulers and principal officers” “with salvation” which means “by the use of deliverance, liberation, rescue, safety and welfare”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God said He would array the ruling principal officers in Jerusalem with deliverance and safety.

The verse continues, “and her saints shall shout aloud for joy. The Psalmist added the words, “and her saints” or “and her, Jerusalem's, faithful, kind, godly, holy and pious ones” “shall shout aloud” which means “will be overcome with a ringing cry” “for joy” or “for exultation, praise and rejoicing”. The Psalmist said the pious and holy ones in Jerusalem will bring forth a ringing cry of joy, exultation and praise.

When we think through the Psalmist's words in this verse, we see how Jehovah God made Himself responsible to array the “chief rulers” in Jerusalem with deliverance, and the pious ones in Jerusalem with the inspiration to put forth a ringing cry of praise and exultation. God wants to be responsible for those who yield themselves to Him, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross so everyone has an opportunity to be forgiven of their sins and inherit everlasting life with Him. Let us permit Jehovah God to array us with His “salvation” and may we “shout aloud” in praise and honor to Him for all eternity.

Next time the Psalmist shares how Jehovah God says, “there will I make the horn of David to bud”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
