In Psalms one hundred thirty five the Psalmist said, “the LORD will judge his people, and he will repent himself concerning his servants”, and in chapter one hundred thirty five and verse fifteen of Psalms the Psalmist said, “the idols of the heathen are silver and gold” where we read,
The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
The verse begins, “The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “the idols” or “the images” “of the heathen” which means “belonging to the non-Hebrew people, Gentiles and pagans” “are silver and gold” or “exist and consist of silver metal and gold metal”. The Psalmist referred to the false images of pagan people that are fashioned and made with “silver and gold” metal.
The verse goes on to say, “... the work of men's hands.” The Psalmist continued with the words, “the work” or “the acts and deeds” “of men's hands” which means “belonging to the physical hands of human beings both male and female”. The Psalmist said the “silver and gold” images of pagan people are fashioned and formed by the physical hands of people.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist began to compare the “hand made” images of worship by pagan people to Jehovah God. God is Almighty and alive. He is made by no man, and He vindicates, loves and has pity upon people who yield to His Son Jesus who is the Messiah and “Savior” of the world. Jesus came into the world, suffered and died upon the cross for the sins of every person, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and show Himself superior to any other god or image that is fashioned by man.
Next time the Psalmist shares about the, “mouths and eyes” of the idols, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
