In Psalms one hundred thirty five the Psalmist said, “Your name, O LORD, endures for ever; and your memorial, O LORD, throughout all generations”, and in chapter one hundred thirty five and verse fourteen of Psalms the Psalmist said, “the LORD will judge his people” where we read,
For the LORD will judge his people, and he will repent himself concerning his servants.
The verse begins, “For the LORD will judge his people, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “for the LORD” or “because, since and on account that Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “will judge his people” which means “shall contend, plead a cause, execute, requite and vindicate his, Jehovah God's, nation, compatriots, countrymen, kinsmen and kindred”. The Psalmist said the reason the “name and memorial” of Jehovah God's fame, reputation and glory would remain is because He would vindicate His nation and countrymen.
The verse continues, “... and he will repent himself concerning his servants.” The Psalmist added the words, “and he will repent himself” or “and he, Jehovah God, shall have compassion, be moved to pity, suffer grief and console His own self” “concerning his servants” which means “according to, on account of and on behalf of his, Jehovah God's, bondmen, men of servile condition and worshipers”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God would have compassion and pity upon His bondmen and worshipers.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist declared that Jehovah God would vindicate His countrymen, and He would have compassion and pity upon them. God loves the people of Israel, and He loves people around the world. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” (See John 3:16-17) God is for us, and when we yield our lives to Jesus as our personal “Lord and Savior”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life, vindicate us and have compassion and pity upon us for all eternity.
Next time the Psalmist says, “the idols of the heathen are silver and gold”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
