The LORD Swearing to David - Psalms 132:11

In Psalms one hundred thirty two the Psalmist said, “For your servant David's sake turn not away the face of your anointed”, and in chapter one hundred thirty two and verse eleven of Psalms the Psalmist said, “the LORD has sworn in truth unto David” where we read,

The LORD has sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it;

Of the fruit of your body will I set upon your throne.

The verse begins, “The LORD has sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; The Psalmist began with the words, “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and is the proper name for the One True God” “has sworn in truth” which means “has adjured, taken an oath and charged in firmness, faithfulness, sureness, reliability, stability and continuance” “unto David” or “to David whose name means blessed and was the second king of Israel”; “he will not turn from it” which means “he, Jehovah God, shall in no way or manner turn back, apostatize and relinquish it, God's truth”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God adjured sureness and reliability to “David”, and Jehovah God would in no way relinquish His “truth”.

The verse goes on to say, “Of the fruit of your body will I set upon your throne. The Psalmist continued with the words, “of the fruit” or “from the offspring, progeny or children” “of your body” which means “belonging to your, David's, physical flesh or body” “will I set” or “shall I, Jehovah God, put, station, appoint, fix, constitute and array” “upon your throne” which means “on your, David's, seat of honor, royal dignity, authority and power”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God promised “David” that his offspring would be established and appointed upon David's seat of honor and authority.

When we consider the Psalmist's words in this verse, we discover how Jehovah God made a promise to “David” concerning his “throne” or royal rule. (See 2 Samuel 7:12-16) The rule of the kingdom was to never depart from the lineage of “David”, and the Messiah Jesus came through “David's” line. God sent His Son Jesus through the lineage of “David” to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and be allow to sit under the “throne” of the “KING OF KINGS and LORD of LORDS” - Jesus – for all eternity. (See Revelation 7:14; 19:16)

Next time the Psalmist shares what will happen, “If your children will keep my covenant and my testimony”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
