The LORD's Name Endures Forever - Psalms 135:13

In Psalms one hundred thirty five the Psalmist speaking of Israel shared how Jehovah God, “gave their land for an heritage, an heritage unto Israel his people”, and in chapter one hundred thirty five and verse thirteen of Psalms the Psalmist said, “Your name, O LORD, endures for ever” where we read,

Your name, O LORD, endures for ever; and your memorial, O LORD, throughout all generations.

The verse begins, “Your name, O LORD, endures for ever; The Psalmist began with the words, “your name” or “your, Jehovah God's, fame, reputation and glory”, “O LORD” which means “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “endures for ever” or “lasts, remains and stands for long duration, unto futurity, everlasting, evermore and perpetually”. The Psalmist shared how Jehovah God's fame, reputation and glory lasts unto perpetuity and evermore.

The verse goes on to say,and your memorial, O LORD, throughout all generations. The Psalmist continued with the words, “and your memorial” or “and your, Jehovah God's, commemoration, remembrance and memory”, “O LORD” which means “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “throughout all generations” or “during, at full length and all over each, every, the whole and everyone of the periods, ages and posterities”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God's memory and commemoration is extended to every people group and age.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist declared the fame, reputation and glory of Jehovah God to have remained eternally, and the memory of Him was to be remembered in every age. God is eternal, and He does not change. (See Malachi 3:6) God loves people, and His salvation is available to every “generation”. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of everyone, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep His “name” and “memorial” in our hearts and minds forever.

Next time the Psalmist says, “the LORD will judge his people”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
