In Psalms one hundred fifteen the Psalmist said, “But our God is in the heavens: he has done whatsoever he has pleased”, and in chapter one hundred fifteen and verse four of Psalms the Psalmist said, “their idols are silver and gold” where we read,
Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
The verse begins, “Their idols are silver and gold, ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “their idols” which means “their, the foreign, heathen and pagan people's, idolatrous images” “are silver and gold” or “exist as and are made with silver metal and gold metal”. The Psalmist made reference to the idolatrous images that the foreign and pagan people fashioned out of “silver and gold”.
The verse continues, “... the work of men's hands.” The Psalmist added the words, “the work” or “the deeds, acts and labor” “of men's hands” which means “belonging to men's, people whether male or female's, hands of power, might, strength and ability”. The Psalmist said the “idols” made with “silver and gold” were nothing more than the labor and strength and ability of people's “hands”.
When we meditate upon the Psalmist's words in this verse, we see how he noted the false gods, idols made with silver and gold, of the heathen nations. People worship images rather than Jehovah God and violate His second commandment in doing so. (See Exodus 20:4) God wants us to worship no one other than Him, and He is the only God who sent His Son Jesus into the world to live as a perfect man, without sin, to die on the cross and be raised from the dead three days later. This single loving act of Jehovah God provides salvation to every person who believes and trusts in Jesus, and when we do, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and given the opportunity to worship and serve Him and His Son Jesus for all eternity.
Next time the Psalmist shares about the, “mouths” and “eyes” of the idols, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
