Mouths Not Speaking and Eyes Not Seeing - Psalms 115:5

In Psalms one hundred fifteen the Psalmist said, “But our God is in the heavens: he has done whatsoever he has pleased. Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands”, and in chapter one hundred fifteen and verse five of Psalms the Psalmist shared about the “mouths” and “eyes” of the idols where we read,

They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:

The Psalmist began with the words, “They have mouths, but they speak not:. The Psalmist began, “they have mouths” or “they, the idols and images fashioned of silver and gold own and possess orifices in their faces used for eating, drinking and speaking”, “but they speak not” which means “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover they, the idols and images fashioned of silver and gold, do not utter, declare, proclaim or talk”. The Psalmist said the “idols” which are made with silver and gold possess mouths, however, they are unable to talk.

The verse goes on to say, “eyes have they, but they see not:” The Psalmist continued with the words, “eyes have they” or “the idols and images fashioned of silver and gold possess physicals eyes for seeing”, “but they see not” which means “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the idols and images fashioned of silver and gold are unable to observe, notice, discern or behold”. The Psalmist said the idols and images fashioned of silver and gold possess physical eyes, however they are unable to look and see anything.

When we think through the Psalmist's words in this verse, we see how he described the physical characteristics of the idols and images fashioned of silver and gold which had “mouths and eyes”, however, they were unable to speak or see with them. Images formed by people may have physical features, but they are inanimate and unable to perform the functions of people never mind Jehovah God. God gave life and breath to people, and He gives them the capacities for function in the world. God loves us, and He proved it by sending His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. When we yield ourselves to Him as our personal “Lord and Savior”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us from worshiping and following idols and images that are inanimate and unable to perform functions for which their physical features represent.

Next time the Psalmist shares about the, “ears” and “noses” of the idols, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
